The Weakest link in the IOT chain
Coined by the Germans, Industry 4.0, or the forth Industrial Revolution, offers an unprecedented level of efficiency to manufacturing enterprises. It does so by enabling a new level of self-organization and control over the entire value chain. Through the convergence of the physical and digital worlds, all relevant information is made available in real time, by connecting all instances of the value chain, including devices, machines, processes and people through the use of IOT.
Yet, despite the fact that industry is spending hundreds of billions annually (140B in Germany alone) on implementing the latest industry 4.0 technologies that can make autonomous decisions within micro seconds, archaic and unreliable communication technologies are used to alert an operator, including SMS and email. This “last mile” of the IOT is by far the weakest link in the chain and can jeopardize the entire system.
OnPage offers incident alert management for the digital age. It reliably sends Alert-Until-Read notifications to the right person, escalates them as necessary, keeps a log of the entire alert and response process and ensures that the alert is received in a timely fashion each and every time. This process enables the manufacturing enterprise to remain efficient at all times.
Today, at the 2017 Gartner ITxpo, OnPage is announcing its integration with leading IOT technology provider, ThingWorks for seamless operation. With the introduction of the OnPage and ThingWorx collaboration, OnPage’s robust incident alert management system enhances the notification process by enabling companies using the ThingWorx platform to bring their alerting to the 21st century.
