We analyzed trends around downtime causing incidents and alerting protocols followed by IT professionals . The results show the unhappy state of alerting in today’s IT world. Based on the results of our survey, we found that:

• One in 5 IT teams receives over 20 alerts per day
• Over  60% of IT teams take longer than 4 minutes to notify the right person when a critical alert occurs
• Over 80% of IT teams are alerted to critical incidents via email
