What's Nagios?

Nagios monitors networks for problems caused by overloaded data links or network connections, as well as monitoring routers, switches and more. Nagios monitors availability, uptime and response time of every node on the network. The system delivers the results in a variety of visual representations and reports.

Nagios Alerts Require Critical, Priority Alerting

Nagios sends emails through standard protocols when critical events occur in an infrastructure. However, if you receive alerts to a critical event via email, you can easily misjudge the email’s importance.

Nagios alerts must be more prominent and ensure that high-priority events are never missed by incident response teams. It’s time to complement your Nagios deployment with proper alerting tools to enable proactive engineering.

Nagios Alerts and OnPage Critical Alerting Integration

MSPs and IT departments can select which incidents trigger OnPage high-priority messaging to individuals or groups via OnPage’s secure mobile app. Users can also monitor delivery of alerts as well as responses in real time from within the Nagios console. OnPage’s Alert-Until-Read technology assures no more lost alerts that waste valuable time and money.

The Nagios-OnPage Integration Has Two Levels

Nagios’s powerful integration with OnPage provides an integration at two levels; email integration and web services integration.

Email Integration

Provide users with an immediate, no code required, drop-in solution that bridges current Nagios email alerts with the OnPage platform. All OnPage users (both individuals and groups) have a unique OnPage ID (OPID). By sending an email or SMS text to the address [email protected], the message will automatically be converted to a secure OnPage alert and will appear in the recipient’s mobile device. By designating an OPID email address in Nagios alerts, the systems will be linked. Nagios users can monitor all priority messaging created by Nagios in the OnPage web console.

Nagios Alerts HUB API Integration Module

Nagios users can quickly implement a deeper level of integration with OnPage by installing the OnPage HUB API client module. The module, installed by downloading an OnPage-supplied python script, enables the addition of OnPage as a notification method in the Nagios console. Users can select OnPage as an option for automatic alerting of user-specified OnPage clients based on notification settings within the console.
