OnPage’s New Web Console: Built for Healthcare Workers
OnPage’s new web console with an improved and more modern interface design is coming to you in the next few days!
But we’re aware of how difficult it is to introduce change for healthcare organizations. Not because clinicians and hospital admins are averse to learning new tools. But more so because they’re wary of anything that may come in between them and their patients, taking away their valuable time from care delivery.
We heard this in 2011 when OnPage first pioneered pager replacement, and we hear this even today as hospitals are still averse to phasing pagers out completely. Hence, we kept this in mind when introducing any innovation. In 2011, our application ensured that it mimicked pagers so well that anyone who had used a pager and phone texting could immediately start using our OnPage application.
So for this update, we also made sure we leveraged the same mindset. That anyone who’s used to our legacy system can immediately start using our new web app with practically no learning curve. The idea is that the new navigation will allow teams to operate more efficiently, and also when new users are being onboarded, it’ll make it way simpler than it is with the legacy system. Overall, the idea of introducing this updated platform was to improve speed, reduce burden, and make the process of managing critical communication workflows enjoyable and hassle-free.
A Quick Note on What’s Changing (and what’s not)
While this update focuses on the OnPage web management console, it’s important to note that our mobile application was modernized last year, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from healthcare teams. Clinicians were able to transition quickly with no disruption, and many shared that the updated experience felt intuitive from day one.
This new release builds on that same philosophy. The tools clinicians rely on for receiving and responding to critical alerts on mobile remain unchanged, while the web console enhancements are designed to make backend workflows faster and easier for administrative teams.
What are the Biggest Changes For Healthcare Workers:
The updated web console introduces a cleaner, more modern interface designed with today’s users in mind. With improved layouts and a more intuitive visual display, clinicians can quickly scan information and take action during high-pressure situations.
We’ve also streamlined navigation across the platform, making it easier for users to find what they need, fast. Key features are now more accessible, with fewer clicks required to complete common tasks.
What’s New for Healthcare Workers (Doctors, Nurses, Clinicians):
- Cleaner, more modern interface: A refreshed design with improved layout and visual clarity
- Simplified navigation: A more intuitive structure that makes it easier to move through the platform, reducing the number of clicks needed to complete everyday tasks.
- Faster access to critical actions (alerts, schedules, messaging): Key features are now easier to reach, allowing users to respond, manage, and communicate more efficiently when time matters most.
What’s New for Administrative Staff:
Our goal is to ensure that every message reaches the right person and receives the attention it requires. This meant simplifying the workflow features for administrative staff working on the backend, creating a more seamless and efficient experience across the entire communication workflow process that powers every critical message. While clinicians continue to rely on the OnPage mobile app for HIPAA-compliant messaging and real-time alerting or “paging” , administrative staff responsible for managing contacts, schedules, escalations and call routing workflows can take advantage of the new features below. They also have access to a quick, interactive walkthrough of the platform, helping them get familiar with the new console and onboard new admin trainees to OnPage with minimal time investment.
To see how these updates come to life in a real-world setting, check out our interactive demonstration below.
- Dedicated line management: Manage and monitor live call communication lines more efficiently
- Drag-and-drop on-call scheduling: Easily build and modify schedules with our new flexible drag-and-drop feature
- Simplified call routing setup
- Enhanced dashboard visibility: Access read receipts and message confirmations more easily, improving communication tracking and accountability.
- Improved message distribution: Gain better visibility into both current and future schedules across teams for improved planning and coordination
- Improved dispatcher communication workflows: The updated dispatcher module enables faster, more intuitive message delivery to the right on-call personnel, with streamlined workflows that reduce manual steps and ensure critical alerts are sent, acknowledged, and acted on without delays with a complete audit trail of message delivery status.
For NEW OnPage Web Console Users:
The new management console is designed for ease, even for users who have never worked with a hospital communications and critical alerting platform before. Whether managing provider contacts, scheduling on-call teams or securely dispatching a message to an on-call role within a hospital, users can move through the system efficiently, saving valuable time during critical moments. We’ve also included a thorough walkthrough of the platform below.
