Reach Responders Through
Multiple Notification Channels

OnPage sends critical incident alerts through the mobile app and can reinforce delivery through SMS, email and voice calls. During initial setup, each user selects their preferred redundancy channels and defines the interval between the push notification and the secondary notifications. Once configured, OnPage follows those saved preferences automatically when an incident alert is delivered.

OnPage Push Notifications

High-priority app notifications can override silent and Do Not Disturb settings and continue alerting until read.

SMS Notifications

Add text messaging as a secondary notification channel for users who choose to receive it.

Email Notifications

Send incident information to the user’s inbox as part of the preconfigured redundancy workflow.

Voice-Call Notifications

Use an automated IVR phone call when an additional, attention-getting notification method is needed.

Configure Multi-Channel
Notification Redundancy in Advance

Users set their notification preferences before an incident occurs. Once saved, OnPage applies those settings automatically whenever an alert is delivered.

1. Select Redundancy Channels

Each user chooses SMS, email, voice calls or any combination of the three.

2. Set the Redundancy Interval

The user defines the amount of time between the initial OnPage push notification and the selected secondary notifications.

3. Apply Saved Preferences Automatically

When an incident alert is delivered, OnPage sends the push notification and automatically follows the user’s preconfigured interval and channel preferences.

Configuration note: To activate SMS, email and voice-call redundancy, the Secure Messaging setting must be disabled and the change confirmed. Accounts that do not want app-based delivery can also disable push notifications. However, keeping push enabled is recommended for critical alerts because OnPage push notifications can override silent and Do Not Disturb settings and continue alerting until read. This setup is completed in advance; no one needs to select channels or define the interval after an alert has been sent.

Multi-channel incident alerting is different from mass notification.
This capability reinforces alert delivery to targeted incident responders. If you need to broadcast informational or emergency messages to a broader audience without requiring the OnPage app, explore
OnPage BlastIT Mass Notification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which notification channels does OnPage support for incident alerting?
OnPage supports mobile push notifications with optional SMS, email and automated IVR voice-call redundancy. During setup, each user can opt into one, two or all three secondary channels.
Do all four notification channels override silent mode and alert until read?
No. Silent and Do Not Disturb override and Alert-Until-Read delivery are specific to high-priority OnPage push notifications. SMS, email and voice calls serve as additional redundancy channels.
How are SMS, email and voice-call notifications configured?
The configuration is completed before an incident occurs. Each user selects the SMS, email and voice-call channels they want to receive and defines the interval between the initial OnPage push notification and those secondary notifications. OnPage then applies the saved preferences automatically whenever an incident alert is delivered.
Can multi-channel redundancy be used with Secure Messaging enabled?
No. The Secure Messaging setting must be disabled and the change confirmed before SMS, email and voice-call redundancy can be activated. Secure Messaging should remain enabled when messages need to stay within the OnPage app’s secure messaging environment.
Is multi-channel incident alerting the same as OnPage BlastIT?
No. Multi-channel incident alerting reinforces delivery to targeted responders. OnPage BlastIT is a separate mass notification solution for broadcasting messages to larger audiences through SMS, email and voice calls without requiring the OnPage app.
Can OnPage push notifications be turned off?
Yes. Accounts and users that do not want app-based delivery can disable their push notifications and use their selected SMS, email and voice-call channels. However, keeping push enabled is recommended for critical alerts because high-priority OnPage push notifications can override silent and Do Not Disturb settings and continue alerting until read.
