OpenEMR Integration

OnPage’s HIPAA-compliant platform now integrates with OpenEMR, the most popular open source electronic health records (EHRs) and medical practice management solution. The use cases enabled by the OpenEMR integration include the ability to:

  • Continuously monitor a patient’s electronic medical record and trigger an alert to physicians and/or a care team via the OnPage smartphone app if predetermined conditions are met (i.e., a certain level of clinical decline is reached)
  • Automatically alert a specialist that a patient has been referred by their PCP.
  • Alert the PCP when a radiologist interpretation is uploaded into the EMR and include an image file along with the radiologist’s report.

Combine the power of patient record management with contextual, real-time alerting to bolster decision-making and improve patient care.

How the Integration Works

Using OnPage’s API, OnPage makes web service requests to OpenEMR records, and when the established criteria are met (i.e., a change in the EMR that is significant enough to trigger an alert), OnPage receives a response along with relevant information and files to include in an alert to the appropriate person and/or care team.

“OnPage Dramatically Improved Our Clinical Communications”

“My team has replaced all individual pagers and transferred this functionality to various OnPage builds on either Android-based smartphones or iPhones. I live in central Mass., and my reception for pages was spotty using the pagers we had been using and now I actually get pages more reliably. It is also nice not to have to take a separate piece of hardware with me when I am on call for my group.”
